Pastor ‘Poju Oyemade, the host pastor of the Covenant Christian Centre and the ICPMLW Pioneer took the morning session on day two. He spoke about the prophetic mandate or seed i.e. the propheticWord of God every minister must have before going into ministry. He pointed out every apostle in the bible always referred to the book of the prophets (i.e. the books of Psalms down to Malachi) when dealing with any opposition or challenges.
1 Peter 1: 9, 10
Receiving the end of your faith even the salvation of your souls of which the salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the faith that should come unto you.
He noted that the gospel is the report of what was prophesied by the prophets of old, which means the prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit and spoke into the future.
Rom 1:2, Rom 6:25.
Pastor ‘Poju explained that as ministers of God it’s important to have the fundamental knowledge and understanding of your ministry from the mandate given from the book of the prophets. The apostles also received their prophetic word from the scriptures.
Jesus Christ and John the baptist cited their ministry from the scriptures in that when Jesus was in the synagogue He spoke the scripture Isaiah 61 into their hearing “The spirit of the lord is upon me because the lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek” and John who also spoke the scripture Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness”
Every minister or intended minister of God should consider the following when embarking into ministry.
- 1.Start your ministry with your title deed which Is the Word of God. This word given to you by God should be the foundation of anything you do in your ministry, through it you overcome every opposition from the devil, through it you rejoice with faith. It’s the hope of your calling, the anchor to your soul. Any ministry who starts out with a sure word of prophecy from God is like the man who built his house on the rock. The foundation of every ministry should be based on the Word of God given to the minister.
- You might be called but have not yet been sent. Many ministers of God start a ministry without the permission from God, which most times causes a premature death of the ministry. From scriptural examples it’s worthy for everyone who is called by God to have a mentor, spiritual father who would teach, guide and instruct them on things of God, it’s necessary for everyone who is called by God to follow not just a mentor but also a spiritual lineage for ministry. We are called unto continuity, to be fully trained to receive the spiritual mantle and continue the work of God. For example, Elisha received the prophetic mantle from Elijah
- Ministers have to be constantly filled with the Spirit and travail in prayer to birth their vision. Most prominent ministers in the world had to birth their vision into the earth through travailing prayer in the Holy Ghost
- Ministers should have people they pray with (intercessors) that would travail in prayer together with them to birth and protect their vision from God.
