Pastor ‘Poju gave a brief overview to the first edition of the International Conference for Pastors, Ministers, Leaders and Workers with Proverbs 4: 20
“My son attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.”
He stated that the condition of people who desire change, and pray for that change to occur, but end up having it elude them is because they fail to find the portion of scripture containing God’s promise to them. Often, when they do find the scripture they do not attend to it.
To attend: This means you do not let those scriptures depart from your eyes.
Consider the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5: 25 – 29)
When she heard of Jesus Christ is when she had gotten the relevant information. With that she did something. There are three things she did after she had received this crucial information and like her, this is what we must all do at this conference:
- She heard.
- She said.
- She touched.
What you have heard you should make yours. You make it yours as you meditate and speak it to yourself just like she did. Then you can touch and make contact with it through prayer.
A man that’s persuaded gets the full benefit when contact is made in prayer.
During the course of this conference, you will get the portion of scripture God has promised for that situation. However, your responsibility is to individualize what you have heard.
First, you need to hear God’s word, because you cannot exercise faith for anything without the necessary written Word He gives you. So you must hear from God.
And, usually the question is, “How do I hear?
- Come prayerfully.
- Hearing is by the Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 2: 12): Usually God will use preachers. It is the Spirit who moves men; He will raise preachers.
Romans 10: 15,
“And how shall they preach, except they be sent?…”
If you are going to hear, the preacher must be sent to you! Therefore, God must hear your cry for the ministry of the Word i.e. specific to you.
You must make a demand on the anointing, it’s not just about listening.
Acts 10: 5
“And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose name is Peter.”
You can hear a whole sermon or hear from God!
And according to Matthew 7: 24 -27, You must deliberately come to hear Jesus Christ and then do what you’ve heard, if you are going to build on the rock. If you don’t this, you would have just heard and done nothing afterwards.
